“I am all yours, and all that I have, is yours, my Queen and my Mother!”
On 29th of March, the general annual event of the Legion of Mary-the promise to serve the Mother of the Lord (in latin: Acies) took place at the chapel of the Armenian Catholic Parish of St. Gregory of Narek, Yerevan. 7 legion praesidiums participated in the event, of which 4 operate in the Armenian Catholic parishes of Ashotsk, 2 operate in Yerevan and 1 in Spitak.
H.E. Kevork Noradounguian, the Ordinary Archbishop of Armenian Catholics of Armenia, Georgia, Russia and Eastern Europe, Fr. Komitas Daveyan, the parish priest of Yerevan and Mekhitarist Father Hamazasp Keshishyan, were also present. After the opening prayers and the Rosary, all of the legionaries individually approached the statue of Virgin Mary and the Vexillum and officially vowed to serve Mary with the following words: “I am all yours, and all that I have, is yours, my Queen and my Mother!”.
After these individual promises, Fr. Hovsep Galstyan, the Spiritual Leader of the Curia of the Legion, kneeling, said the enchanting prayer of the collective promise, asking the intercession of Mother of the Lord also for the spiritual increase and holiness of the Armenian Catholic Ordinariate and the intentions of the Ordinary Archbishop.
The Holy Mass was served by H.E. Kevork Noradounguian. He shared his memories about his youth, when he was an active legionary, endowed with an apostolic enthusiasm. He also said, that he is fond of the legionary prayers even today. Archbishop Noradounguian told about the fruits of the legionary apostleship, with which he has dealt with personally, and also gave some advice with his fatherly wisdom: to have sound reasoning and caution while carrying out apostolic work, prioritizing the proclamation of the Good News of the Gospel and assistance to the repentance of the people, at the same time not allowing the mentality of division to creep in. Unity, solidarity with the structures operating in the Church must be one of the main principles of the Legion of Mary, emphasized the Ordinary Archbishop.
After the Holy Mass, an agape lunch took place with an opportunity of dialogue between the Ordinary and the legionaries.
After the lunch, the monthly meeting of Curia was held also with the participation of H. E. Noradounguian, who closed the meeting with his fatherly blessing.
