From October 30 to November 2, trainings were organized at the Ordinariate premises in Yerevan, initiated by H.E. Kevork Archbishop Noradounguian, with the purpose to make it possible for the ministrants of Holy Liturgy to develop their spirituality, to enrich their knowledge of Holy Liturgy and sacred ministry, to develop their liturgical skills. 34 adolescents, aged 10-17, from parishes of Armenia and Georgia took part in the trainings.
The schedule was beautifully saturated with prayers, theoretical classes and discussions, practice and study visits, cultural events.
Fr. Michael Dombouryan spoke on the topic of “Holy Mass and the liturgical service: why is it being carried out?”, explaining in detailed and comprehensible manner the sublime and unique meaning of the Holy Mass, the peculiarities of the Armenian rite and the role of the liturgical ministry in the life of the Church.
The practical classes of the recitation and the singing of the prayers of the Holy Mass was conducted by Most. Rev. Fr. Petros Yesayan. He described the meaning of each prayer, the manner of singing, the liturgical items, the vestments, the functions, gestures and their purpose.
The last day, Fr. Petros spoke about the priestly service, the understanding of the vocation to serve the Lord and to follow it, sharing with the young ministrants his personal experience and memories of the following priesthood calling. Some of the ministrants are interested in priestly service, and they accepted the words of the Most Reverend father as an invitation to think of their own possible priestly vocation, for the discernment of which continual prayers, catechetical education, prudence, knowledge and love towards God are needed.
On October 31, the young ministrants also had the opportunity of visiting the Innovative Experimental Art Center and enjoyed the theatrical performance called “The Bug” (penned by Ara Artsrouni). After the performance, they met with the actors and discussed the content with them, got answers to their questions.
On November 1, they made a trip to the shrine of Khor Virap, with Fr. Komitas Daveyan, they prayed to St. Gregory the Illuminator for the holiness of Armenian people and for the graceful wellbeing of the Armenian Catholic Church.
