  • Visit of the Consul of Hungary to the Ordinariate in Gyumri

In the Context of Developing Diplomatic Relations

On July 22, 2026, His Excellency Kevork Archbishop Noradounguian hosted Péter Tarcsay, Consul of Hungary to Armenia, and Alexandra Csizmadia, Deputy Head of Mission, at the Ordinariate in Gyumri.

The representatives of the Hungarian diplomatic mission first noted that instead of one joint Embassy previously serving both Armenia and Georgia, now Hungary has separate diplomatic missions in both Armenia and Georgia. The Embassy of Hungary in the Republic of Armenia has been operating since October 2025.

The guests informed about their visit to Shirak State University on the same day, presenting and emphasizing the Embassy’s educational and linguistic-cultural programs, as well as the prospects for cooperation with both the University and the Armenian Catholic Church in Armenia. The Consul highlighted the importance of cooperation with the constantly expanding and developing Armenian Catholic community in Hungary and the support provided to it. The guests also congratulated His Excellency Kevork Archbishop Noradounguian on the occasion of his election as the President of the “Armenian Caritas” Benevolent NGO, wishing him success in this important mission. Further cooperation with “Armenian Caritas” BNGO was also briefly discussed.

The Ordinary Archbishop thanked the guests for the visit and for presenting the cooperation programs, emphasizing his constant readiness to expand and develop mutual ties. The meeting, which took place in a warm atmosphere, concluded with the exchange of memorable souvenirs.
