Taking into consideration the liturgical and devotional life of the faithful of our Ordinariate—celebration of the Holy Sacraments, the Liturgy of the Hours, the prayers included in the Mashtots (Ritual Book), and pious devotions—as well as the necessity to construct and preserve churches accurately and regularly in accordance with the Sacred Liturgical Tradition of the Armenian Catholic Church, and guided by the Code of Canons of the Eastern Churches, specifically Canons 39-41 and 667, I have decreed to establish the “Committee on Liturgical Issues.”

The functions of the Committee are:

-To support the regular development of liturgical and devotional life within the communities through consultative and organizational work;

-To ensure that the liturgical rules of the Tradition of the Armenian Catholic Church are preserved during the celebration of sacraments, the Liturgy of the Hours, and devotions; to assist in eliminating deficiencies through consultation, and by presenting conclusions and proposals to the Ordinary (Bishop) and the Council of Priests;

-To oversee, support, and implement the preservation, publication, and editing of liturgical literature;

-To monitor the construction, exterior and interior decoration, and furnishing rules of churches and chapels, as well as the proper preservation of ecclesiastical liturgical vessels and vestments;

-To oversee, support, or organize the liturgical preparation and continuous training of altar servers and choirs through spiritual education and courses.

APPOINTMENT OF THE COORDINATOR OF THE COMMITTEE ON LITURGICAL ISSUES

Taking into consideration the necessity to organize the activities of the “Committee on Liturgical Issues,” which was established for the purpose of regulating the liturgical and devotional life of the faithful of our Ordinariate, and guided by the Code of Canons of the Eastern Churches, specifically Canons 39-41 and 667, I hereby appoint Most Reverend Father Petros Yesayan as the Coordinator of the “Committee on Liturgical Issues.”

May God strengthen him to fulfill this highly important mission for the prosperity of our Ordinariate and the Armenian Catholic Church.
