Such initiatives create a basis for the development of Christian volunteerism in communities.
On May 2016, Caritas Georgia recommenced the project of ” Animation and Strengthening of Parish Social Ministries in Catholic Communities of Georgia”, in 8 Catholic communities of Georgia (3- Armenian, 3-Latin and 2 Assyrian-Chaldean). The goal of the project is to improve the social conditions 8 Catholic Communities of Georgia (of Latin, Armenian and Assyro-Chaldean Rite) encouraging Catholic Social Teaching inspired behavior change in parish leaders in order to increase their capacity to promote Christian inspired volunteerism and to mobilize volunteers in their communities to support self-determination and community development.
The duration of the project is 24 months. It is financed by CRS charity foundation of the USA. During past 8 months 2 joining meetings were held for preparation, which were actively attended by members from all communities. The first meeting was held with the headline of ”What is Christian Social Teaching?”, and the second one was- ”What is volunteerism?”
Armenian Catholic priests took part in these meetings offering spiritual guidance and their teaching skills.
